Inclusion and natural supports
Founded for Safer Inclusion
Humboldt Friends was founded by a California Self-Determination Program participant and developed in connection with person-centered goals for safer inclusion, friendship, and natural support building.
Who This Helps
The project was shaped with autism, developmental disabilities, anxiety, trauma histories, social isolation, and natural supports in mind.
Humboldt Friends is all-inclusive. It is not only for disabled people. The goal is a local social app where more adults can find friendship with clearer boundaries, safety-focused review, and plain-language support.
Natural Support Building
Natural supports are real community relationships that can reduce isolation and help people participate more fully in local life. Humboldt Friends is designed to make local connection easier to begin, while keeping higher-trust activities gated behind added review.
Independent Operation
Humboldt Friends is independently operated. It is not operated by, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of the California Department of Developmental Services, any regional center, Medi-Cal, or the State of California.
