Humboldt Friends uses layered safety and verification steps to support local accountability in Humboldt County, California.
Verification supports accountability but does not guarantee safety. Members should still use judgment, meet carefully, and call 911 in an immediate emergency.
Safety Tools
- SMS safety notices and account-status messages.
- Account verification and phone-control checks.
- Voice or session confirmation where appropriate.
- California ID review for Friends Circle access.
- In-person Friend Interviews before higher-trust features.
- Emergency contact information or approved emergency instructions for Friends Circle.
- Public safety-related checks where appropriate.
- Community reporting, staff review, and moderation workflows.
Friends Circle Review
Friends Circle may require a valid California ID or California driver's license review, SMS opt-in, safety confirmations, emergency contact information or emergency instructions, and an in-person Friend Interview before higher-trust features open.
Limits
Humboldt Friends is not an emergency service, law enforcement agency, medical provider, or complete background-check provider. Safety steps reduce some risks and support accountability, but they cannot remove every risk.
